Hello, my name is Andrea from Northern Ireland. I am an enthusiastic machine knitter but am interested in all things woollen. I am an active member of the NI Machine Knitters Guild which has renewed my interest in machine knitting. I own a standard Brother 940 electronic knitting machine and a Brother Chunky. I also hand knit and love looking at new wools and patterns.

Hobby Horse
On Saturday it was the monthly meeting of NI Machine Knitters Guild. The Guild are displaying some items in 3 exhibitions throughout the year. The theme is a Knitted Nursery. I volunteered to knit a hobby horse and a friend kindly brought in a pattern for this. I have some chocolate brown wool and some white and red for the pattern. I started to knit some bits of it yesterday and it is like a jigsaw puzzle. I only hope the pieces fit together. I will let you know how I get on.

Next Project
Today I spent some time deciding what to knit next. I was thinking about a poncho/cape sort of thing with 3 panels - one of weaving and two plain stocking which I could sew together and then put a loose neckband on. I completed a woven tension square with Sirdar Reflections and brown acrylic for the middle panel. Not sure about tensions and this would mean making a woven panel in one tension and then another tension for the plain brown. Still considering. Anyone any ideas what this might make?

Flowers
Today, I went shopping but alas no wool was purchased. But I did buy a pair of green trousers which will need a green cardigan knit to match them.
Then I knitted some chenille flowers on my machine as I am making knitted flowers in a vase which I am covering in wool and attaching flowers to - so I will need quite a few flowers and leaves. (will post a pic when finished)
Also got an email from Deramores who are selling King Cole Inspire, a DK yarn for £1.50 for 100g which is usually £4.29. I bought some green wool to match my green trousers - 6 balls should do.
Not a bad day

More Temptation
Went into Belfast today to go shopping and look for some wool. I saw some James Brett wool upstairs in the Spinning Wheel at the city hall but did not purchase any.
When I arrived home the Spring/Summer catalogue came in the post from Knitwell Wools. Check them out on http://www.knitwell.co.uk/. There are lots of lovely new pastel wools and patterns to tempt me!

Hello
Hi this is my first blog ever. I am hoping to share my experience of machine knitting and some handknitting and to show you some of the items I have made. I hope to be able to add to my blog weekly. At the moment I am preparing items for a Knitted Nursery Exhibition for the NI Machine Knitters Guild. Our next meeting is on Saturday. At the moment I have completed a baby blanket and pillow and clothes for a teddy bear pictured.
